Ospreys (?) Nesting on Highway 28
Spotted this nesting platform on Highway 28, just south of Young’s Point. On the long weekend, there was activity: feeding of fledglings. Drove by yesterday. It appears to be an osprey, still feeding. Hopefully next time, there won’t be so much traffic and I can get a picture of who really inhabits this nest.
It is an osprey nest. I’ve been driving past this site for 10 years now on the way to the cottage and I’m pretty sure every year there is a new brood. Stopped for the first time this year for 5 minutes (the max 4 kids and a wife sitting in the van would allow)and took some pictures. I’d have loved to waited longer for the adult to get used to me standing there.
